What Is Organic Kamut Flour?
Kamut (also known as Khorasan wheat or Pharaoh grain, owing to the fact that grains were discovered in ancient Egyptian tombs) Is a grain, made from the ancient durum wheat relative.
Though it is not gluten-free by any means it does however have a lower gluten content than wheat and as such is a fantastic way to reduce net gluten intake without changing your lifestyle to incorporate your diet. It will substitute wheat in any recipe without problem and will taste typically "wheaty" but with a much stronger flavour, leading to its own unique recipes.
Why Should I Get Organic Kamut Flour?
Healthier than conventional wheat, Kamut has about 30% more protein, and more fatty acids too. It's got a chewy, toothsome texture with a nutty, rich flavour.
Makes a delicious spring and summer salad. Use it in tabbouleh instead of bulgur wheat or try baking with It. Unlike some grains, Kamut is still very much a wheat relative and as such substituting wheat based ingredients with their Kamut equivalent doesn't require much (if any) extra effort.
