What Is Organic Freekeh Wholegrain ?
Freekeh (pronounced freek-ah) has more fiber than almost any other grain and is also a good source of protein.
Also known as farik, it cooks relatively quickly with a chewy texture similar to barley
Why Should I Get Organic Freekeh Wholegrain ?
Freekeh is an ancient grain from the Middle East that's newly popular.
Similar to farro in usage, it can be utilised as a substitute for rice and in hot and cold salads.
Freekeh is also lower on the glycaemic index (wholegrain freekeh GI = 43), making it a great choice for people managing diabetes or those just trying to keep their blood sugar steady.
Instructions For Use:
For cracked freekeh, use one-part freekeh to three parts liquid. Rinse before adding to boiling salted water or stock. Return to the boil, cover, and simmer for 15-20 mins or until tender. Wholegrain freekeh needs more water and a longer cooking time, 35-45 mins or until tender.
Storage Instructions:
Store in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat and damp.
