What Is Borlotti Beans?

The borlotti bean is a variety of common bean first bred in Colombia. It has multiple names, also known as the cranberry bean, Roman bean, romano bean, saluggia bean, gadhra bean or rosecoco bean.

The borlotti bean is a variety of the cranberry bean bred in Italy to have a thicker skin. It is used in Italian, Portuguese, Turkish, and Greek cuisine.

Why Should I Get Borlotti Beans ?

The high fibre content of borlotti and other beans is known to have a very neat effect in reducing cholesterol levels, blood pressure and heart disease risk. 

Borlotti' s attractive red speckles fade during cooking, but they offer a very well-balanced nutritional profile, an enjoyable flavour, and a myriad of cooking options.

Instructions For Use: 

Fibre-rich protein source. Add to vegetable stews to add texture. To Cook: 1. Rinse beans 2. Soak for 4-6 hours (or overnight). 3. Place in a pot and cover with water above the beans. 4. Boil for 45-60 minutes and ensure that there's always water in the pot. 5. Add more if necessary.

Storage Instructions: 

Store in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat and damp.
